After growing up in Africa and being homeschooled by her scientist parents, Cady Heron thinks she’s prepared for anything. But nothing can prepare her for the wild world of North Shore High School. With the help of new friends Janis and Damian, Cady quickly learns the rules of the social jungle and finds herself drawn into the orbit of the school's most powerful clique: The Plastics.

Led by the fiercely popular Regina George, The Plastics rule the halls with confidence, style, and a strict social hierarchy. As Cady becomes increasingly entangled in their world, she discovers that popularity comes with unexpected challenges and consequences. What begins as a plan to take down Regina soon forces Cady to confront questions about friendship, identity, and staying true to herself.
